UN in Indonesia Newsletter August 2021

This month, Indonesia commemorates its 76th Independence Day, an auspicious moment to reflect upon the vast societal, economic, and political shifts this country has experienced throughout its history and recognise the set of circumstances it faces today presents a unique challenge. Indonesia's constant resilience, paired with innovation, are two qualities that will enable us to recover better from the pandemic and advance the SDGs.



This edition highlights how UN projects are addressing cross-cutting issues to empower people and protect our environment through innovation and technology. Topics include environmental crime, food insecurity, dispelling taboos for gender equality, human rights for vulnerable and minority groups, worldwide access to Indonesian scientific research, and work health and safety for pregnant gold miners.
