As millions of Muslims around the world begin observing the holy month of Ramadan, Resident Coordinator Valerie Julliand extends her best wishes to all.
Salam,
Ramadan Mubarak to all my Muslim friends in Indonesia and all over the world.
Given the ongoing pandemic, I’m sure these past two Ramadans have been challenging for everyone.
Some of us couldn’t be with our families,
Some of us had to take care of our family members,
And tragically, some of us had to lose a family member.

To top it off – our world, our planet, is not doing too well.
We are witnessing humankind fighting each other, fighting who is right and who is wrong at the expense of the innocents – women and children, the elderly.
We are witnessing our planet – mother earth – exploited. We take, take and take but never give anything in return.
***
This must stop now.
Compassion, and mercy, should win over greed.
Solidarity must prevail above all, so peace exists.
This is the spirit of Ramadan.
***
Let the spirit of this holy month guides us all through these trying times.
And, may peace be upon us in this holy month.
Thank you.
