RESPECT - Preventing Violence Against Women, Factsheet
The "RESPECT - Preventing Violence Against Women" factsheet is an essential resource for understanding the significant strides taken to integrate the RESPECT framework into Indonesia's policy and community initiatives aimed at combating violence against women. Supported by the UNFPA, the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) has incorporated RESPECT into the Technocratic Document of Indonesia’s Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2025-2029. This strategic inclusion emphasizes protecting women’s rights and serves as a cornerstone in the nationwide effort to prevent violence against women.
In a collaborative endeavor with the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (MOWECP), the framework has been further disseminated and understood through a series of impactful training sessions and workshops conducted between August and November 2023. These sessions have successfully enhanced the knowledge of 31 participants on crucial aspects of the RESPECT framework, encompassing gender diversity and human rights principles, thus equipping them with the tools necessary for effective advocacy and implementation.
Furthermore, the development of a “Training Module for the Prevention of Violence Against Women Based on the RESPECT Framework” marks a significant advancement in localizing this approach. It offers a detailed guide for facilitators to educate others on the prevention of violence against women, reinforcing the framework's principles and applications across various sectors. With an action plan set for the integration of RESPECT into both national strategy and institutional frameworks, this initiative promises a sustained and collaborative effort towards eradicating violence against women in Indonesia.
