Your Excellency Tri Tharyat, Director General for Multilateral Affairs,
Ms. Gita Sabharwal, UN Resident Coordinator for Indonesia,
Distinguished participants,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is a pleasure to join you virtually, at the 9th Plenary of the Indonesia– UN Consultative Forum.
Today, we meet at a time when the UN and multilateral system are under unprecedented pressure.
Never before have the legitimacy, effectiveness, and resilience of these institutions faced challenges of this magnitude.
From direct attack on UN peacekeepers—which impacted three of our UNIFIL personnel — and threats directed at the UN Secretary-General to the recent legislation dismantling UNRWA, reveal the vulnerabilities within our global framework.
Such actions set an alarming precedent and could have broader implications for the work of the UN System across the globe.
If left unchecked, such situation could seriously undermine the credibility of the entire system.
In this context, we must not take for granted the strong collaboration of the UN and their work in member countries, such as that in Indonesia.
The UN Country Team must move beyond business-as-usual and demonstrate that their programs can deliver tangible results, which, in turn, will build public confidence in the continuity of the UN System programs and activities.
Indonesia deeply values IUNCF’s role in reinforcing and strengthening cooperation between our government and the UN… which has spanned for over a decade.
The IUNCF shall continue to focus on at least three fronts:
• First, improving coordination, transparency, and accountability;
• Second, minimizing overlaps and redundancy; and
• Third, reinforcing national leadership and ownership to ensure more tailored and result-oriented program.
In this way, we will be able to pursue shared goals more effectively.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, we are committed to achieve the Asta Cita vision, a roadmap of eight core pillars to achieve sustainable progress in Indonesia.
Central to this vision are key national priorities: which is achieving food and energy self-sufficiency, providing nutritious meals, and elevating education, healthcare, and downstream industries.
In the next 100 days, we are setting ambitious milestones to bring priorities into reality.
Such bold goals will also require a supportive global landscape and a strong partnership with the UN.
With only 5 years left to meet the SDGs... we need to better translate commitment and innovation.
The UN Country Team, is a pivotal in aligning our objectives, including with the Pact for the Future… and renewed commitments to boost SDGs and multilateral reform.
Let us harness this forum to generate a real progress, transforming our dialogue into concrete actions that support a more resilient…inclusive, and prosperous Indonesia.
With that, I declare the 9th Plenary of the UN- Indonesia Consultative Forum open.
I thank you.
