Excellencies,
Ms. Gita Sabharwal, UN Resident Coordinator Indonesia;
UN Agencies Representatives and Country Directors in Indonesia;
Representatives from line Ministries, development partners, private sectors, NGOs, academia;
Representative from Local government, my fellow Bappenas colleagues,
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen.
Good afternoon.
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
It is my great pleasure to be here among of you today at this important High-Level Event Bappenas- UN Forum on Development Cooperation 2024. This forum has consistently provided a platform for enhancing collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the United Nations. As we embark on this new chapter, our partnership is more critical than ever as we navigate the final stages of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The year 2024 marks a pivotal time for Indonesia, not only due to global and regional uncertainties but also because it signifies the start of a new era in our nation's leadership. As the new President and administration take office this October, we will see fresh energy, direction, and priorities in Indonesia’s development trajectory.
One of the key undertakings of the new government will be the implementation of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025-2029. This RPJMN represents the first leg of our broader Indonesia Golden Vision 2045, which outlines our ambitions for a sovereign, progressive, and sustainable nation. The RPJMN will be aligned with the SDGs, driving Indonesia’s social, economic, and governance transformation.
As we prepare for the new administration and the implementation of RPJMN 2025-2029, today’sd iscussion will also focus on the upcoming government priorities in critical sectors such as health, education, and nutrition. We recognize that human capital development is at the core of our strategy for a prosperous future, and we will further enhance these sectors through specific interventions.
In today’s forum, I hope we could explore the contributions and perspectives of key development partners, particularly in how joint efforts can enhance the impact of these interventions. We aim to scale up initiatives that strengthen food security, improve school health programs, and ensure access to quality education across the country. This alignment with global efforts will reinforce our national strategies while contributing to international goals.
Ladies and gentleman,
We remain steadfast in our commitment to achieving the SDGs and addressing pressing global issues like climate change, economic disparities, and social inequalities. The next five years will be crucial as Indonesia implements the three pillars of transformation outlined in the RPJPN:
Social Transformation – focusing on equitable access to education and healthcare, reducing poverty, and improving social protection mechanisms.
Economic Transformation – advancing sustainable economic growth through innovation, digitalization, green economy initiatives, and improving productivity.
Governance Transformation – fostering integrity, adaptability, and strong regulatory frameworks to enhance the effectiveness of public services and governance.
In this endeavor, our cooperation with the United Nations will play a central role. We count on our UN partners to continue supporting Indonesia’s priorities, particularly in promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.
At the heart of our development journey is Indonesia’s commitment to advancing strategic initiatives that will drive progress toward the SDGs. Among these initiatives, Innovative Finance plays a pivotal role in unlocking new resources and ensuring sustainable investments for development. Through blended finance, impact investments, and partnerships with both the public and private sectors, we are exploring ways to finance SDG-related projects more efficiently and at a larger scale.
Today discussions should help us identify how UN agencies and development partners can further support Indonesia in mobilizing and managing these innovative financing mechanisms. This includes expanding some of Indonesia’s platform and project, which has already gathered momentum as a collaborative financing tool.
Ladies and gentleman,
As we embrace a new chapter in Indonesia’s governance and prepare for the new RPJMN, it is vital that we seize this momentum to create a stronger, more inclusive partnership with the UN, we must also consider how our collaboration with the UN can be strengthened further. This means evolving our partnership to be even more innovative, results-driven, and responsive to both current and future challenges. Our commitment to sustainable development, coupled with the support from all sectors, will ensure Indonesia’s success in realizing both national and global development goals.
Through this forum, I urge all of us—government institutions, UN agencies, development partners and the private sector—to reaffirm our collective responsibility to advance Indonesia’s development agenda. Let us focus on accelerating the programs under UNSDCF 2021-2025 and paving the way for the next UNSDCF 2026-2030, aligning with Indonesia’s vision for the future.
I look forward to the fruitful discussions and constructive outcomes that will emerge from this Forum. Let us continue our journey towards achieving the SDGs, the Indonesia Golden Vision 2045, and ensuring a prosperous future for all.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
